FILE CHECKSUM

File Hash & Checksum Checker

Calculate or verify MD5, SHA, and CRC32 values, then compare the contents of two files in your browser.

HOW TO USE

How to use the three tools

01

Calculate a hash

Choose a file and the algorithms to calculate. Copy the results or save them in a TXT file.

02

Verify a checksum

Choose a file and paste the checksum from its publisher. You can change the automatically detected algorithm.

03

Compare files

Choose two files to compare them with SHA-256. Reset the comparison before selecting different files.

ABOUT HASHES

About hashes and file comparison

What is a hash or checksum?

A fixed-length value calculated from file contents. Comparing it with the publisher’s value helps verify file integrity.

MD5 and SHA-1

Collision attacks are known for these algorithms. Avoid them when security matters.

SHA-256, SHA-384, and SHA-512

These are members of the SHA-2 family. SHA-256 or later is generally suitable for checking published file hashes.

CRC32

A 32-bit value used to detect accidental data corruption. It is not suitable for cryptographic security.

Comparing two files

Each file is read in chunks and hashed with SHA-256. The tool compares their sizes and hashes.

Privacy

Selected files are not sent to a server or external API. Processing stays in your browser, and results are not retained after you close the page.
